Community Conversation: BCC Verge Garden Guidelines: What they are and why they matter

When

December 10, 2023
3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Where

Bracken Ridge Library
77 Bracken St, Bracken Ridge, 4017

Event Type

The Brisbane City Council has a verge garden policy that makes it possible for residents and council to work together to increase shade and biodiversity throughout our suburbs.

This helps nature and it helps us by making our streets cooler and more pleasant to walk along.

The council plants and maintains the street trees. Residents plant native verge gardens within the council guidelines.

Find out why you can’t just plant whatever you want. And why native gardens are better than food on the verge.

This event is part of our #saveourbigbackyard nature project to increase awareness of the need to protect and increase biodiversity. It will be help in conjunction with the Keep Sandgate Beautiful Association Inc who are just starting their group verge garden project, and the Banyo District Verge Gardening group who can share their experiences.

When: Sunday 10th December from 3pm to 5pm

Where: Bracken Ridge Library, 77 Bracken St, Bracken Ridge (map)
RSVP essential using the form on this page.

Bracken Ridge Library is on Bus route 330

(Free native tubestock plant suitable for planting on a verge for the first 20 registered participants as part of our group #saveourbigbackyard nature campaign)
