ACF Community Brisbane Northside is an independently organised, volunteer-run group in Brisbane northern suburbs and Moreton Bay City and is part of the Australian Conservation Foundation Community Group network.
We are a diverse group from many different walks of life. New members are welcome.
Our Verge Garden Nature Project is part of the Australian Conservation Foundation’s Save Our Big Backyard . that raises community awareness and knowledge about the importance of biodiversity and native habitat in our suburbs as well advocate to protect regional and remote areas.
Each year we participate in the Platy Project – a citizen science and awareness project to protect platypuses in our region.
Our members create and sponsor petitions relevant to our area to local and government.
We also promote ACF national campaigns.
We don’t participate in campaigns against individual developments.
Each month we hold a community conversation on a topic related to sustainability in our region.
How could we reimagine our cities a thriving place where all citizens can have their basic needs met while doing our part to stay within planetary boundaries?
We support active transport including walking, cycling, and public transport as essential parts of sustainable transport. Many of our members have a keen interest in how we can do development better to manage the increasing population in our region.
